WELCOME TO THE PLATFORM

The Platform is an open-source, co-operative publishing platform that harnesses Web3 blockchain technology to allow creators and stories from the edges of culture to be heard, preserved and sustained.

Initially we have been created and funded by artists and art lovers to address the needs of the cryptoart community and provide context for digital art and how it makes us feel.

Our vision is to accommodate much more than art in the future. Possible applications include a variety of cultural artefacts past and present such as antiquities, catalogues, scientific archives, and so on.

Whatever the narrative, we’re creating deeper connections between artist and audience and artist and their artwork, for collectors to collect and readers to enjoy.

WHY THE PLATFORM?

Right now, Web3 creators, curators and commentators have only Web 2 platforms to contextualise and promote content – whether third-party or personal websites and media – and the ‘art’ ends up separated from its context.

The Platform exists to help integrate digital art so that it becomes a coherent part of a non-fungible token, or NFT and easily connects it with its provenance.

This means that in 10, 20, 50 years or beyond, anyone wanting to know more about an artwork or an artist won’t have to piece together scraps of information from Web2.

What makes an artwork valuable? To those of us at THE PLATFORM, it’s how it makes us feel. How it stimulates our senses. How it shifts our perceptions and understanding of the world, of who we are. How it encapsulates experience. How it makes ideas tangible. We also deeply value artists, the source of all art, and their creative process, which gives us insight into the many things that drive humans to make art, and how.

On THE PLATFORM, creators’ stories are told alongside their art. That story might be about a particular artwork, their creative process, social issues, or what inspires them to create art. Whatever the narrative, we create deeper connections between artist and viewer, artist and artwork.
